Free daily search signal

See SERP turbulence without the guesswork.

A deterministic daily view of how much the top 20 organic results moved across a fixed basket of 200 US-English searches.

Collecting the daily baseline. No movement score is invented before two complete days exist.

Overall observed displacement

Higher numbers mean more result-set displacement. They do not identify a cause or confirm an algorithm update.

The table carries the same values as the sparkline, so the trend never depends on a visual alone.

Honest methodology

What this index measures—and what it cannot tell you.

The sensor compares consecutive complete days. It is simple enough to reproduce and deliberately makes no causal claim.

Normalized result-set distance

For each keyword, we compare the ordered top 20 with the prior day. Rank movement and result replacement are normalized, averaged, and placed on a 0–10 scale.

A fixed repository basket

The 200 keywords span 10 categories. Visitors cannot submit or select terms, and basket edits require a reviewed code change.

One consistent market

Every observation uses US-English desktop search and the first 20 organic results. It is not a view of every country, device, or query.

Two days before movement

Day one publishes an honest baseline state. A numeric value appears only when a category has two consecutive, fully collected days.

Budget-bounded collection

A global daily ceiling stops vendor spend. A partial day publishes only complete categories and labels every skipped category instead of filling gaps.

Observed movement, not a diagnosis

A high value reports displacement in this basket only. It does not prove a search algorithm update, explain why results moved, or predict your site's rankings.
