Find content inventory and cannibalization issues

Content Inventory crawls a bounded set of pages on a site you own and turns their stored facts into clusters, quality flags, link structure, and candidate opportunities. Cannibalization entries remain candidates until you review the query, URLs, confidence, and available Search Console evidence.

Before you start

  • A Pro or Agency account and an added site you are allowed to crawl.
  • Optional Search Console history if you want first-party query evidence in candidate findings.

Follow these steps

  1. Open Inventory

    Choose a site, open Content, and select Inventory. Previous runs remain available with their terminal or partial status.

  2. Set the crawl scope

    Choose the requested page limit and, when useful, add allowed paths, excluded paths, or trusted sitemap seeds. Every URL still has to stay on the owned origin.

  3. Review block use

    Read the block calculation before starting. The server rechecks the scope, capacity, URL safety, and block reservation instead of trusting the browser's estimate.

  4. Follow the crawl

    Watch requested, processed, and failed pages. A partial crawl preserves usable pages and refunds only unused whole blocks under the server's refund rules.

  5. Explore the inventory

    Inspect page facts, topic clusters, duplicate groups, thin or orphan flags, internal links, and topical gaps. Each finding describes stored evidence, not a live edit to the site.

  6. Investigate candidates

    Open a cannibalization candidate, compare its URLs and confidence, then use the prefilled analysis link when deeper evidence is warranted. Confirm the prefilled page and keyword before spend.
