Monitor public page changes

Page Change Monitoring checks eligible public pages each week and records material changes while suppressing unchanged or noisy observations. It can watch an owned page or a page on a confirmed competitor origin, and it pauses rather than deleting history when the monthly allowance is exhausted.

Before you start

  • An Agency account, an added site, and an eligible public HTTP or HTTPS page.
  • A confirmed competitor profile before you can monitor a competitor page.

Follow these steps

  1. Open Monitoring

Choose a site, open Content, and select Monitoring. The page shows existing monitor status, active-slot use, and monthly checks.

  2. Choose the target type

Select an owned page or a confirmed competitor. A competitor monitor remains bound to the chosen profile and cannot become an arbitrary off-origin crawl.

  3. Enter the public page

Enter the owned URL, or select a competitor and confirm the page on its origin. The server rejects unsafe, private, or ineligible targets.

  4. Review meters and create

Check active slots and remaining monthly checks, then create the monitor. The cadence is fixed weekly in the shipped UI and is displayed before confirmation.

  5. Choose notifications and read changes

Set the material-change email preference and open a monitor's feed. The first observation establishes a baseline; later material events identify the recorded reason.

  6. Manage the lifecycle

Pause a monitor when you do not want checks, resume it when eligible, or remove it deliberately. A cap-paused monitor keeps its history and can recover after capacity returns.

What you get

  • A weekly baseline and material-change feed for each eligible target.
  • Separate active, user-paused, cap-paused, and error states.
  • An optional notification path that preserves the stored feed.
